Updates from NFFTY Alumni around the world.
Sarah & Tomas recently completed their second music video for their band which can be viewed here. The duo is currently in production for their next short film titledHi, How Are You. The film, which has elements of both a documentary and narrative fiction, follows musician Daniel Johnston as he prepares to go onstage before a sold-out concert. Visit Sarah’swebsite here.
In 2012 Jesse launched a crowd funding campaign to re-create the 1980’s animated film The Flight of Dragons, in live action. With over 7,000 Facebook fans, the project spiked the interest of Dominic Monaghan and Tyler Ritter. Ultimately, a deal with Warner Brothers proved too arduous, so he transitioned to an original idea. Michael Chase Walker (Producer, The Last Unicorn) has signed on to write the script. Other partners include talents within Pixar, ILM and Weta Workshop. Production will start in 2014.
Travis is serving as producer and co-director for a new sketch comedy web series coming from students of Western Washington University. Production began this month. The series will be launched in early January. The story will follow a friendly school janitor who happens to be a compulsive liar. Stay tuned for more updates including a trailer.
Omar is wrapping up production on his latest short film. The project covers several points of real world issues happening in the country including media corruption as well as other ethical conflicts. Omar’s previous film, Yusuf, which screened at the NFFTY 2013 Opening Night Gala was recently made available to the public via Vimeo. Watch it here.
Drake recently completed his latest short film titled Applesauce. He is currently submitting to festivals so keep an eye out for it! The story, which is a comedy, follows a man who finds true happiness yet quickly learns that it comes at a hefty price. Visit his website here.
Kate directed a commercial for Rotary International’s campaign End Polio. The piece will be live on their Facebook and YouTube pages on December 4. There will be a Facebook chat discussion on the release day discussing the campaign. Kate invites all NFFTY alumni to join in the discussion. The project was co-produced with NFFTY alum Ashton Kennedy with music composed by Chase Horseman. Visit Kate’s website here.
Sam Toller recently completed his latest film. A Rough Guide to Community Livingis a 35 minute documentary highlighting the culture of eco communities and self-sufficient living. The film has been made available to the public via Vimeo. Watch it here.
Ben, who is the only filmmaker to have a film in every year of NFFTY since its inception in 2007, recently wrapped production on his latest short film Big Silver Nights. The trailer was recently released and can be viewed here. Visit Ben’s website here.
