The Social Network Finds Success At Box Office10/04/2010
The debut of The Social Network this past weekend exceeded studio expectations, earning $23 million in nearly 3,000 theaters to come out with the number one spot. Directed by the highly-regarded David Fincher, the picture is loosely based on the life of Mark Zuckerberg, who himself has decided to not speak about the film publicly and who recently went on the Oprah Winfrey show to donate $100 million to education in what some called a publicity stunt. Regardless, its easy to see the film has received both critical and commercial success this past week and will continue to do so through the holiday season.
What do you think? Was it appropriate to release a film based on a product still in its relative infancy, or, is it important to release more films based on current events and issues? And did you see the film, what did you think? Tell us your thoughts!
