Little Big Show #3 – Where Your Money Goes07/25/2012
Over the last 6 years NFFTY has become the largest youth film festival in the world, recognized by the film industry as the place to meet the next generation of great filmmakers. Every year we get to build meaningful relationships with filmmakers, film fans, and sponsors dedicated to helping us pull off an event with more than 10,000 in attendance. Every dollar we get from festival sponsors goes directly in to making the festival happen in a first-class way by finding the best venues for screenings, parties, and networking events; ensuring we have the best technology to screen films, host filmmaking panels, masterclasses, and putting together the Future of Film Expo.
NFFTY has been our flagship program, however we have been developing year round educational programming that expand beyond the 4-day annual festival. One of those programs is called Youth Filmmaking Excellence. This program is designed to give disadvantaged youth the ultimate access to professional cinematic equipment and training that they cannot find anywhere else. Our industry-connections with working filmmakers, technology companies and aggressive grant-writing puts NFFTY in the unique position to offer such programming. We have run nearly 10 workshops in the last two years.
Watch this Recap Video of our last workshop to see the impact amongst youth filmmakers:
The reality is, this program is not possible without additional funding beyond what our generous sponsors provide for the 4-day festival. In the past we’ve received grants from major funders for our educational programming, but in the economic times we live in, these funding opportunities are becoming more and more sparse. Budget cuts have always plagued the arts, and many programs surrounding filmmaking suffer because of it.
Your Little Big Show ticket purchase will give funds to NFFTY to help us continue to inspire future filmmakers. It is this generation that will tell the great stories of our time. Much of the curiosity and learning that inspires great filmmaking starts with NFFTY and the Youth Filmmaking Excellence program. We have proven we can run these workshops, we have new and exciting curriculum that just needs your support to come to life! These experiences have a lasting impact, and there truly is a need to give young artists professional training within an artform they cherish. We are honored to have been selected as the benefactor for 100% of ticket sales for Little Big Show #3, and a big reason is because Starbucks, STG, and KEXP support the future of film, and know that your support of our programs will make a difference.
