Emmy winning producer and non-profit executive joins NFFTY
SEATTLE (October 17, 2013) – The largest youth film festival in the world, NFFTY (National Film Festival for Talented Youth) has announced Stefanie Malone as the new Managing Director of the organization. Malone will lead NFFTY alongside Founder and Artistic Director Jesse Harris as part of the organization’s transition plan. Malone succeeds Lindsey LeDuc who served as Managing Director since 2011.
Now approaching its eighth year, NFFTY has continued to grow and expand its vision, launching major additions to the organization. “NFFTY is in one of the most exciting times of its life right now,” said Harris. “With the creation of an original content production arm along with year-round programs and online film distribution, NFFTY is poised for major expansion and opportunities in the coming years and there is no one better than Stefanie to help lead us there.”
Malone is an Emmy award-winning producer with a long, successful history in public broadcasting. Most recently, Stefanie was with KCTS Seattle as the Director of Community Engagement & Education. During her tenure at KCTS, she led national and local award-winning, multimedia projects, executive produced statewide television programs, and regularly served on national advisory boards for PBS. Stefanie has her Master of Arts in Communication from Ohio University, where she was awarded a Public Broadcasting fellowship. She formerly coordinated outreach at WOUB in Athens, Ohio. Outside of work, Stefanie enjoys making short nonfiction films.
“NFFTY is unique in its mission and programming to promote and celebrate young media artists, bringing a world-class film festival to Seattle each year. I’m honored to have been selected as Managing Director of NFFTY and to have the opportunity to build on this remarkable program,” commented Malone.
NFFTY is the largest and most influential film festival in the world for young filmmakers (age 22 and under). NFFTY 2014 is April 24-27 in Seattle. http://www.nffty.org.
