More information and registration below.

The NFFTYX 360º Bootcamp is presented through the generous support of Oculus! With special thanks to our partner fearless360º!

This hands-on intensive workshop will focus on how to conceptualize and shoot in 360°, concluding with teams using a 360° camera package and tasked with shooting a single shot film at pre-selected locations around Seattle Center. The teams will be working with specific rule sets inspired by Lars Von Trier’s 5 Obstructions. Bootcamp films will premiere at the NFFTY Closing Night party held at KCTS Television on Sunday, April 30!

The Bootcamp will be led by Sandy Cioffi of fearless360º and VR pioneers Rose Troche and James Kaelon.

Sandy has been a media educator for 30 years (Seattle Central Community College, Seattle University, Cornish College of the Arts) and is very excited to share what's she's been learning about 360º storytelling.

Rose is a pioneer of 1990's independent cinema. Her groundbreaking independent feature Go Fish launched lesbian cinema into the mainstream. She went on to direct the features Bed Rooms and Hallways and The Safety of Objects and several episodes of Six Feet Under.  Rose has been an early adopter of VR, drawn to telling narratives from different points of view. Perspective Chapter 2: The Misdemeanor, a VR short, explores bias from four different accounts of a police shooting. Her latest VR experience If Not Love premiered at Sundance and explores whether a single act of love can prevent a crime.

James is a filmmaker, VR simmaker, and producer whose films and simulations have screened at festivals around the world—including Sundance, Slamdance, SFIFF, Tribeca, and AFI FEST. He currently serves as the Director of Development & Acquisitions at Wevr, and is a co-founder of the crowd-funding and distribution platform, Seed&Spark.

The NFFTYX 360° Bootcamp will be held at our partner hotel:

The Maxwell Hotel
300 Roy St.

*To ensure attendance there will be a $20 fee for the workshop, which will be reimbursed upon the successful participation of the two-day bootcamp. Fees will be collected at a later time with workshop confirmation.
