Young Women In Film

Young Women in Film is a NFFTY initiative launched in 2014 and aimed at continually supporting and nurturing young female filmmakers around the world in mastering the craft. Since launching the initiative, NFFTY has seen a spike in submissions by young women. Of the 227 films screened at NFFTY 2016, an awe-inspiring 40% were female directed. This major accomplishment can be compared to Hollywood where only 9% of major motion pictures are directed by women.

As a part of the initiative, NFFTY names a Best Emerging Female Filmmaker at the Closing Night Awards Ceremony.
