Alaya’s work:

drazini.artstation.com

I believe that film and animation through visual storytelling are some of the most apt mediums to move people's hearts by communicating experiences and stories that are meaningful and reveal truths about humanity. With my work I hope to inspire others to look critically within and at society, to inspire changes in both to create a more compassionate and fair future for all.

Alaya will begin studies at the University of Southern California in Spring, 2022.

Ella’s Work:

• Stereo (Official Selection, NFFTY 2018)
• Bubble Gum (Official Selection NFFTY 2018)
• Bloom (Official Selection, NFFTY 2020)

Filmmaking feels like my way of saying things that I may not quite be able to articulate… It feels like my excuse to live, to pay attention to my life and the way that I experience it, and to push my comfort zone for the sake of a story.

Read more about Ella and her work in our Alumni Spotlight (April 2021)!

Ella began attending Emerson College in Boston in Fall, 2021.

Caroline’s work:

• Climate Strike Documentary
• Tarzan Documentary
• Aero
• Tahoma PAC News Feature

In today’s society, with everything seemingly collapsing around us, film can serve as a beacon of hope, and truth.

Caroline began attending Pratt Institute in NYC in Fall, 2019.

Skala’s work:

• Striking a Balance: Growing Up Biracial with Emily
• Comeback
• Building Solutions
• We the People
• Seattle Spotlight and others

I want to make a difference in people’s lives and help shift people’s perspectives, and I believe storytelling through film is one of the most important tools for doing that.

Skala began attending the Columbia College of the Arts in Chicago in Fall, 2018.

Rhys’s work:

• Ring
• In Those Jungles
• Some Things Just Can’t Be Replaced
• So Much To Lose

I knew early on that my passion was filmmaking, and that I would do everything I could to be able to make movies one day. It’s a dream come true to be doing just that.

Rhys began his studies at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles in Fall, 2017.

2016 Scholar: Leo Pfeifer

Leo’s work:

• Lost Time (Official NFFTY Selection, 2018)
• This Is How We Zoo
• Pearl Jam Foundation — Sue Bird
• Clipped Wings
• Popped (Official NFFTY Selection, 2017)
• Climate Change (Official NFFTY Selection, 2016)
• Big Coat (Official NFFTY Selection, 2016)
• Air Pressure (Official NFFTY Selection, 2015)
• Stolen (Official NFFTY Selection, 2015)
• Leo’s Vimeo page

Film has the power to tell stories that simply help their audience understand: understand a person, place, culture, feeling, emotion, issue, or anything else. When a film shows you the life, the struggles, and the challenges of others, it can completely change your views on that subject. And it does that all by simply telling you a story.

Leo is currently studying at Chapman University’s Dodge College, where he transferred in 2018.

• Goldfish (Official NFFTY Selection, 2015)
• The King of the Sun, Episode 1
• Bogui’s YouTube channel: MindControlFilms

For me, the point of filmmaking is to tell stories that relate to people on a deeper level than pure entertainment. I live and breathe filmmaking. It is not simply a hobby, but a passion of mine that keeps me up at night, and ignites a fire within me that only grows with each passing day.

Bogui Adjorlolo walked in the graduation ceremony at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts in May 2019.
